Staff Accountant

Our office is located in Westerville, Ohio, a northern suburb of Columbus, with a wide array of clients from individuals to start-up and established enterprises. We pride ourselves on providing accurate and insightful financial information in order to assist in maintaining their profitability and success.

We are currently seeking to expand our team with an experienced professional who has spent 2-6 years in a public accounting environment. Ideal candidates will possess strong leadership and communication skills with proven experience in the delivery of quality client service. Key attributes sought include specialization in the areas of financial statement compilation and preparation services, as well as proficiency in all aspects of general ledger accounting, write-up services, and journal entry preparation. Experience in business tax preparation and QuickBooks® consulting is a plus.

You should consider our position if you have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required - CPA a plus
  • 2-6 years relevant experience in a small local public accounting firm preparing financial statement compilations and business tax returns
  • Excellent computer skills in MS Excel, MS Word, as well as high proficiency in QuickBooks® Desktop and QuickBooks® Online, and professional tax software (UltraTax preferred)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple, concurrent projects
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

In this critical role you will:

  • Prepare various accounting and financial statement products up to and including financial statement compilations and preparations, with transaction data entry, account reconciliation, general ledger write-up and journal entry preparation as required
  • Assist with the preparation of federal, state and local income tax returns for individuals, corporations, S corporations, LLCs and partnerships
  • Prepare annual 1099’s and related forms, BWC true-up reconciliation, Ohio CAT filings and limited payroll forms
  • Maintain effective workpaper preparation in compliance with firm standards and procedures
  • Track daily time through firm billing software with sensitivity to maintenance of an appropriate billable time ratio
  • Demonstrate critical thinking and research skills to determine conclusions and recommendations
  • Effectively multitask multiple client engagements, prioritize tasks and be a great team player
  • Independently manage your workload once you are trained in our processes
  • Develop the ability to identify and propose resolutions to income tax issues
  • Assist in developing and sustaining strong client relationships for our firm
  • A commitment to work extended hours, typically 55 hours a week including Saturdays during the months of January through April, with reduced office hours in the summer and other potential flexibility the rest of the year
